In this series we are introducing you to our wonderful retailers, the amazing women who are helping us to make the Spread the Love benefit a reality.  Please welcome Christina from GorgeousBaby in Canada (don’t miss Christina’s own line of beautiful pouch slings on her site!).

Tell us about a typical day in the life of Christina.
I do my GorgeousBaby work from home while taking care of my 4 year old and 21 month old…so work is done in little snippets: answering emails over breakfast, phone calls & shipments packaged over naptime. My husband is very helpful and takes the children out of the house most every afternoon which provides an hour of earnest work. I usually am thinking of business from the time I wake up until we sit down for a late supper….and then I’ll be checking my blackberry for orders, etc until bedtime.

If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Back to Kauai! Haven’t been back since our honeymoon, and we’d love to share the experience with the wee ones. Being from the westcoast of Canada, the thought of warm water swimming is pretty dreamy.

If you won the $100 giftcard to your own store, GorgeousBaby, what would you get and why?
Oh, how to choose a Sakura Bloom? I LOVE the softness of Spice and yet Storm is so classic…probably Storm!

Where can you find Christina online?
Blogging about her awesome baby carriers at the GorgeousBaby Blog.  You can also keep up to date with the latest happenings at GorgeousBaby by fanning them on Facebook or following along on Twitter!

kettmade1.jpgLike just about everyone else we know, we’re trying to get rid of excessive plastic in our lives. You know, the plastic things that you never really noticed before, the ones that have just always been there, especially in the kitchen.

One casualty of my new plastic-be-gone mode are all my son’s plastic utensils (okay, maybe not all of them, but most of them). And with Baby L’s six month “first food” ritual pending this weekend, it was time for some baby spoons worthy of the task.

Enter Kett Made wooden spoons.

Hand made in Ontario by Mark Kett, a professional luthier (that’s a guitar maker for all you civilians out there), from a range of beautiful woods, these are spoons that you cannot wait to use.

Ebony. Snakewood. Curly Maple. Purpleheart. Bubinga. Each more gorgeous than the one that came before it. Shaped perfectly for feeding a little one or for them to hold when they are ready.

Kett Made: Fine Woods. Craftsmanship. An elegant, safe alternative to plasticwear. Get your spoons and serving utensils at their etsy shop and happy eating!

This is part of a series on cool Canadian things!

fidoodle.jpg Fidoodle is one of those kids’ companies that makes me wish, really wish, that I was a child again. Not that I won’t play with their things now (I will), but they would just be all that much more fun if I was a kid.

So, what is it that Toronto-based Fidoodle makes?

Just about the coolest things you could dream up: puzzles that turn into puppets that turn into art. Story based, interactive mobiles. Animals designed to be held and to inspire dreams.

I fell in love with the Cinderella jigsaw puppet at Planet Kid. So smart, so creative, so fun! Get yours in Toronto at Planet Kid, or for the rest of us, on Etsy!
